Call for Nominations: Board of Directors

Representatives of member institutions of the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS) are invited to nominate candidates for the ACUNS board of directors. Successful candidates will serve a two-year term from October 2015 to October 2017. Nominees to the ACUNS board do not need to represent a member institution, however the nominee must either be engaged in Northern research or represent a northern institution/organization.

All nominations from members must be received by September 15, 2015. The Nominating Committee will present the slate of nominees at the annual general meeting on November 7, 2015, in Calgary (venue TBD). Nominations will be accepted from the floor at the annual general meeting.

How to Nominate:
All nominations should be addressed to the Nominations Chair, Dr. Robert Bailey via email at by September 15, 2015.

Nominations for the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer and Director can be submitted by a member representative of the association. Please include the individual’s contact information and ensure that the individual being nominated has agreed to the nomination and is willing to sit on the Board.

Nominations for the Student Board Member position can be made by ACUNS member representatives. The Student Board Member should be currently enrolled in a member institution, undertaking northern research and ideally have at least two years of studies remaining. To nominate a student for this position, please forward the following information:

  1. Nominee’s contact information and program of study
  2. Short summary of the nominee’s research and of the work they have done in and for the North (including community involvement and other organizations such as ArcticNet, APECS, etc., if any)
  3. Summary of their future interest/plans in northern scholarship and/or working in the North
  4. A short statement explaining why this student would be a good candidate for the ACUNS Board of Directors.
