    Our Awards

    The annual ACUNS Awards Program supports post-secondary students in diverse disciplines of northern studies who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to northern communities. Funding for the awards comes from the Canadian Northern Studies Trust (CNST) and private donors.

You will be contributing to the Canadian Northern Studies Trust endowment which funds scholarships for early-career Canadian researchers to conduct ethical research in the territorial and provincial North.

    WHY WE EXIST?

    FACILITATION OF COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH, KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION, AND EDUCATION

    For over forty years, the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS) has been an indispensable organization for the advancement of northern scholarship. Established in 1978, ACUNS is a registered Canadian charitable organization, with volunteer representatives at member post-secondary institutions across the country. ACUNS administers awards for students enrolled in a college or university undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program that focuses on the northern context. With contributions from donors, ACUNS aims to contribute to the well-being of northern communities through the development of strong northern scholarship.
